1. Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament
Dating all the way back to 1016, the magnificent Houses of Parliament and their later addition, Big Ben, are without a doubt one of London’s most worthwhile sights to behold. If you possess a really keen interest you can even book yourself a tour of their historical chambers.

2. The London Eye
Built in 1998, the London Eye (formerly known as ‘The Millennium Wheel’) was only supposed to be open as part of the year 2000 millennium celebrations. However, popularity proved so substantial that it still remains a huge draw for tourists to this day.

3. The Tower of London
Home to the Crown Jewels, still used in Royal celebrations today, the Tower of London is well worth a visit. Especially as it is still considered to be a working castle, secure fortress and even a former prison.

4. Buckingham Palace
If you are a fan of the British Monarchy, you will be hard-pressed to find a more satisfying place to visit in the world than Buckingham Palace, otherwise known as Queen Elizabeth II’s official residence. Who knows, if you squint hard enough you might catch a glimpse of her.

5. Kensington Palace and Gardens
If young royals such as Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Harry are more your cup of tea then it is very much worth booking a tour at Kensington Palace, where you might spot them going about their daily business.

6. Tower Bridge
Another one of London’s most spectacular historical symbols is Tower Bridge, which was first opened for use back in 1894. If you’re planning to visit this impressive attraction then the best views can be found on the southern bank of the River Thames.

7. London Zoo
One of the world’s oldest zoological parks, London Zoo is still very much open for business and welcomes thousands of visitors every day to witness its impressive selection of animals from around the world.

8. The London Dungeon
If you fancy a journey back through the gory history of London, then The London Dungeon is the perfect day out for adults and children alike. Made up of a mixture of rides and interactive experiences, this certainly won’t be something you forget any time soon.

9. Westminster Abbey
One of the most breathtaking churches in the world, Westminster Abbey can be found next to the Houses of Parliament and is an absolute must-see when visiting England’s capital. It is still a working church so if you are lucky enough you will be able to attend a service or even witness a high-profile wedding.
