2. Times Square.

It certainly doesn’t get livelier than the commercial district of Midtown New York, Times Square. The chances are when you think of New York you will conjure up images of bright lights and taxi cabs honking their horns and this is undoubtedly inspired by this centrally-located tourist hub.

3. Statue of Liberty.

She is definitely an image that is synonymous with not only New York but all of America, so it is definitely worth walking down to the lower side of Manhattan to behold the marvel that is the Statue of Liberty. Or even better, you could hop on one of the countless Hudson River tours to get that little bit closer.

4. Empire State Building.

Even though the rumours you’ll hear about long queues are very much true, there is no taking away from the fact that there is no other view like that of the ‘86th Floor’ of the Empire State Building. Formerly the tallest building in the world, this 102-floor masterpiece of architecture is certainly a sight in itself to behold as well.

5. Rockerfeller Center.

The chances are you will have seen Rockerfeller Center featured in many a Christmas movie set in New York, thanks to the gigantic Christmas tree they erect outside every year, along with a hugely popular outdoor ice-skating rink.

6. 9/11 Memorial.

Whilst there is no taking away from the fact that this memorial is plagued with sadness for the tragic events that took place on 9/11, you won’t meet anyone that has been to New York who won’t say it is worth a visit. You certainly won’t fail to be moved by the two stunning waterfalls built atop of the site of the fallen Twin Towers.

7. Brooklyn Bridge.

It might not be something you’d first think of for your NYC itinerary, but there is actually a walkway across the Brooklyn Bridge, from which you can see the most impressive views of the city skyline and the Hudson River.

8. The High Line.

New York is never short of innovative ideas and from one of these came the ‘High Line’, which is an elevated garden put together on a disused section of the old New York Railroad. There is no shortage of things to do on the High Line itself or you can venture underneath to the lively Meatpacking District.

9. Museum of Modern Art.

If you’re an artistic soul, you won’t want to miss ‘MoMA’ and its renowned collection of modernist art. Since its development in 1929, this Midtown attraction has been heralded on of the most influential art museums in the world.

10. Chelsea Market.

If you’re after some ‘cheap eats’ then you’d need look any further than Chelsea Market, right next to Greenwich Village, where you can sample some of the best cuisine that New York has to offer. And if there’s one thing I can guarantee you, it’s that New Yorkers know how to do food.
