Celebrities Who Took Part in the Worldwide Women’s Marches – Part 1

Don’t you just love seeing celebrities standing side by side with their fellow fans? This is even better when they’re rallying together with us for a cause we all wholeheartedly believe in and very much the case on Saturday 21st November 2017 when women (and men) gathered across the world to march in protest of the potential threat to women’s rights already inflicted by President Donald Trump. It would seem that everyone worth their salt got involved so here are just a few of the most proactive faces who were in attendance:

1. America Ferrera

Leading the way at the main Women’s March in Washington DC, America Ferrera (of Ugly Betty fame) stood up and made a heroic speech pointing out the importance of sticking together and rejecting all forms of hate and discrimination in the times to come.

2. Madonna

As one of the most pioneering females of our generation there was no doubt that Madonna was going to lead the way at the Washington Women’s March and launch her version of the ‘rebellion’ against sexism and discrimination (using the odd swear word, of course).

3. Emma Watson

Already an ambassador for women’s rights at the United Nations (launching the successful #HeforShe campaign in 2015), there was no way that Emma Watson wasn’t going to fly over to Washington to be a part of this unique day.

4. Katy Perry

Not only did Katy Perry make the journey to Washington DC especially to take part in the marching on 21st January, but she also flew over a plane full of female companions on her private jet. Now that’s dedication to the cause.

5. Kristen Stewart

Having been subject to Trump’s scrutiny in the past, we’re sure Kristen Stewart took great pleasure in standing up against him at the ‘Planned Parenthood’ rally in Park City, Utah. She, and some of her other fellow celebrities, were there for the Sundance Film Festival but still made a special effort to rally together.

6. Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal

In a brilliant display of solidarity, Jake Gyllenhaal took to the streets of Washington DC with his sister Maggie to protest against Trump swearing in to office. Reflecting back afterwards, he said he’d definitely be around for more events in the future.

8. Amy Schumer

Sporting a bright orange NASA jumpsuit to bring about awareness for gun violence, Amy Schumer was one of the biggest driving forces in the Washington March. This resonance will also be felt strongly by her due to two women being shot during a screening of her movie Trainwreck in 2015.

9. Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis

After being very vocal about her feelings in the lead up to the Presidential election, we’re sure Olivia Wilde and her husband Jason were not happy about the swearing in of Trump. However, she was certainly happy at the brilliant turnout at the Women’s March in Washington, going as far as to tweet “we are a force to be reckoned with”.

10.  Miley Cyrus (and Jane Fonda)

Who would have pegged these two as marching buddies? But there you have it, Miley Cyrus and Jane Fonda shoulder-to-shoulder fighting for women’s rights. What a dream team!
